A collection of almost 450 classic Chevrolets is being massively downsized via an auction being held tomorrow, October 3, in Nebraska—unfortunately against its owner’s wishes. Tim Robinson picked up an affinity for full-size General Motors sedans while running Road Runner Auto salvage yard, and for the past 25 years, him and his two sons have been amassing hundreds of the cars, mostly outdoors, on a property they own in Fremont, Nebraska, about 40 miles (65 km) northwest of Omaha, reports Hemmings.

Now the county is telling Robinson to free up the land so it can be turned into a residential development, forcing him to sell between 300 and 350 of the nearly 450 cars. The Robinson Collection Auction, as it’s being called, is being coordinated by VanDerBrink Auctions, which estimates “about 75% or MORE” of the lots are “Impalas, Bel Airs, Caprices, and other full-size Chevrolets from 1955 to 1970.”

Robinson specialized in 1965 through ’70 Impalas while running Road Runner Auto, but he also has a particular fondness for station wagons. “I think we have eight ’68 Impala or Caprice or Bel Air station wagons that are going to be in the auction,” he told Hemmings. There are also about 50 trucks up for grabs, as well as a number of Corvettes.

While you might be looking at these photos and seeing a lot of rust, it’s not all project cars; the fully restored examples were often kept inside, but some of them will be for sale, too. What’s more, Robinson says most of the cars are “90% complete,” retaining their original trim, windows, and bumpers—even if some are missing their engines.

There are also some real gems hidden between the more pedestrian fare, including a ’68 Biscayne that started life as a 427-cube-V8 highway patrol car. There are also a few ex-racers and some original-paint cars (one of them is a ’71 Suburban ambulance).

VanDerBrink forbade any sort of auction preview, so the bidders who show up October 3 at 9:00am will be inspecting the lots for the first time right before the action starts.
