Kim Kardashian has revealed that she spent five years being single in order to 'completely heal' before she contemplated a new romance.
The reality star, 45, is currently loved up with Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, 41, with the pair making their first public appearance together at the Super Bowl in February before going Instagram official in June.
Prior to dating Lewis, Kim's last public romance was with comedian Pete Davidson, 32, whom she began dating in 2021, months after filing for divorce from her ex-husband Kanye West.
And reflecting on the time she spent without a partner, Kim told in a new interview that she 'needed my time' and wasn't 'ready' to open up to anyone new at the time.
She told The Times: 'I was really single for five years. And that felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush.
'Like, I really didn’t feel empty. I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up.'

The thrice-married star added: 'I really wasn’t even thinking about it. The universe works in your favour when you just allow it to.'
Kim and ex Pete's relationship was confirmed to be over in August 2022, after just nine months of dating.
The comedy star recently reflected on his whirlwind romance with the reality star bombshell, which was the subject of much media scrutiny at the time.
He told Variety: 'I’m one of the survivors – the few and the proud. We’re like the Marines,' he teased in reference to her dating history, which includes ex-husbands Kanye and Kris Humphries.
Davidson said he struggled with the intense public scrutiny that came with dating one of the most famous women in the world, saying: 'Look, man, that’s a really tough atmosphere if you're not game. One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they’re like, "This is what we do".'
Davidson went on to compliment his ex, saying: 'I found that very attractive and mature. And I was never subjected to anything I didn’t want to be a part of.'
'[Kim] was super respectful of all of it, but the craze of that lifestyle – being followed everywhere, having security and looking over your shoulder – for a guy with mental stuff, and at the time drug problems, was a little too much for me.'
These days, Kim is loved up with racing driver Lewis, with the pair enjoying several loved-up dates together and documenting their romance on social media.

British racer Lewis was first romantically linked to SKIMS founder Kim earlier this year, yet the Monaco Grand Prix in June marked their first PDA-filled outing.
The pair enjoyed a trip to Japan together and they are said to have spent a weekend at Estelle Manor in the Cotswolds, England, as well as visiting Paris, France in early February.
They also appeared publicly together during the 2026 Super Bowl in February, when they were shown on the stadium's big screen during the game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
Lewis – who has previously been linked romantically with singer Nicole Scherzinger and actress Sofía Vergara – and Kim had previously known each other for several years.
Kim – who is mother to North, 13, Saint, 10, Chicago, eight, and Psalm, seven, with her ex-husband Kanye – is said to be taking her new relationship seriously.
A source recently told PEOPLE: '[Lewis is] just an easy-going guy with great energy. Her family likes him and Kim's very into him.
'They are both busy with their careers, but see each other as much as possible.'
They are said to have 'more than just a casual connection' with the insider adding: 'It takes a lot to capture Kim's interest and she's definitely intrigued.'
