СпутникиРНSpaceXРоскосмосNASANew Watford signing Krépin Diatta said he followed Senegal teammate Ismaïla Sarr’s Watford career and is aiming to make his own mark at Vicarage Road.
The 27-year-old joined the Hornets on Friday, becoming the fifth Senegalese player to sign for the Golden Boys.
Sarr made 131 Watford appearances and played with Diatta 46 times for the Lions of Teranga, including at two World Cup finals and three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
“My relationship with Sarr is very good,” said Diatta to watfordfc.com.
“We’ve had a connection since 2019, and we are very close.
“He is a very good guy and an important player for Watford and Senegal. I am happy to know about the great things he did here.
“He did his thing, now it is my turn to arrive at this club.
“I will try to do my best because I am this kind of person. Every time I’m on the pitch, I give everything.
“I play with a fighting spirit and technically I'm not bad!
“I like modern football, with and without the ball. I try to do my best and give energy.”Diatta has arrived during the international break and has been working at the training ground with his new teammates.
The right-sided player hopes to build a good relationship with the Watford fans.
“It has been nice,” Diatta said of his early days at the club. “Everyone has welcomed me well.
“The environment is very important, and the people here are very kind and friendly.
“I always have a good relationship with the supporters at all the teams I have played in. It is very important.
“The supporters are here for us. We also have to be here for them.”Diatta is looking forward to linking up with Hornets striker Myron Boadu, who he played with at Monaco.
The pair shared a pitch between August 2021 and December 2023.
“We are good friends,” he said. “He was very important to us in Monaco.
“He would always attack the space, and I would try to give him the ball. We have a good connection and I am happy to see him here.
“We will try to build a connection with everyone in the team. This is very important.
“We won’t win a game with just me and Myron. Only as a team can we do it.
“The best thing in football is team spirit and togetherness.”
