Turkey has completed construction of the 153-kilometer high-speed railway section from Çerkezköy to Kapıkule on the Bulgarian border, with the line set to be officially inaugurated on October 9 in a ceremony attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
"We are extending our high-speed train network from Çerkezköy to Kapıkule, all the way to the European border," Turkish Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said.
Uraloğlu said the new section would bring the cities of Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and Edirne into Turkey's high-speed rail network.
