U.S. Central Command said the vessel was redirected in the Middle East as American warships continued to stop traffic from entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas. The command said the blockade was resumed July 14 on orders from President Trump.

In addition to the redirected ships, U.S. forces have disabled three vessels that refused to comply, the command said. Over the past 12 weeks, it said, American forces destroyed 13 commercial ships that were either breaking the blockade or tied to what CENTCOM called the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ “multibillion-dollar shadow network.”
“The U.S. military remains intensely focused on this mission,” Adm. Brad Cooper, the CENTCOM commander, said in a statement. “We will swiftly act against any vessels trying to run the blockade. Our forces are highly trained, professional, and lethal.”
The command told mariners to monitor Notice to Mariners broadcasts and to contact U.S. naval forces on bridge-to-bridge channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and on the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest tally extends a climb reported in recent weeks. CENTCOM said Sept. 25 that 122 commercial vessels had been redirected, up from 99 on Sept. 11, with the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and the guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta among the warships tied to the operation.
This is the second U.S. blockade of Iranian ports this year. The first ran from April 13 until June 18, when American forces lifted it after Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding and opened a 60-day negotiation window. The blockade was put back in place less than a month later.
The Wall Street Journal reported Sept. 25 that U.S. officials said they had no intention of lifting the current blockade.
