  • Texas’ Clayton Lloyd Iley recently received 160 months in federal prison for fraud and identity theft
  • His sentence will see his car collection – including several Ferraris, Lambos, and muscle cars – sold off
  • Federal authorities will direct proceeds of the vehicles’ sales toward restitution for victims

Clayton Lloyd Iley, a 41-year-old businessman from Stephenville, Texas, was sentenced in a U.S. federal court on October 1 after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft on June 17. His conviction followed an investigation involving the FBI, Texas Rangers, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Stephenville Police Department.

While Iley’s 160-month sentence in the slammer is sure to weigh on him, knowing his painstakingly curated car collection – some 90 vehicles spanning from late-model Lamborghinis to classic Pontiac muscle cars to military Humvees – will be dissolved to compensate his victims is certainly a sort of cherry on top of his punishment.

Federal prosecutors said Iley conducted the fraud between January 2020 and May 2026 through several insurance and securities businesses. One element involved a fictitious “Bonded Note” loan program. Iley allegedly told victims the U.S. Department of Defence provided the program to private military contractors. Prosecutors said no such program existed, although Iley collected more than US$2 million from participants.

Authorities also found that Iley accepted insurance premium payments from customers without opening the requested policies. Identity theft provided another funding source.

As part of his plea agreement, more than 90 vehicles Iley acquired using proceeds from the fraud will be sold. Investigators have so far secured a preliminary forfeiture order covering 17 vehicles.

The seized inventory features mainstream, exotic, and military interests. It includes two Ferrari 488s; three Maserati MC20s; two Lamborghini Huracáns; two other Lamborghinis, including an Aventador; and a 2014 Dodge SRT Viper. Other vehicles listed include a Porsche Taycan, Toyota Tundra, and a Jeep Gladiator; a 1968 Pontiac Firebird, 1973 Plymouth, and a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am; and three Chevrolet Camaros.

The collection also extended to military-oriented machinery, including an AM General Humvee; and a 1990 BMY M923A five-tonne six-wheel cargo truck.

Federal investigators have not announced when or how they will sell the vehicles. The court-approved forfeiture process will determine how much money can be recovered for those affected by Iley’s six-year fraud operation.
