TEL AVIV, October 9. /TASS/. The US embassy in Israel has warned its citizens about risks of escalation in the Middle East in the light of the recent events in Yemen in a statement, posted on its website.

"Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the complex security environment. Be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions," the embassy wrote.

US diplomats directly linked the alert to the latest escalation in Yemen, where members of the rebel Ansar Allah (Houthi) movement are fighting against pro-government forces and Saudi troops supporting them. The US claims that the Houthis receive support from Iran.

The embassy went on to say that at the current stage of the escalation, civilian airports and other critical infrastructure sites may be targeted.

"The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly," the embassy warned.

The armed confrontation between government forces and Houthi rebels has been continuing in Yemen since August 2014. The situation deteriorated dramatically this summer. In early August 2026, Ansar Allah launched an offensive in the country's southwest and took control of the port city of Mocha and territories along the Bab al-Mandab Strait in western Yemen on September 10-11. Government forces mounted several counterattacks near the strait in the following days. On October 4, government forces began a large-scale military operation to regain control of the country.
