TURKMENBASHI /Turkmenistan/, October 9. /TASS/. The share of national currencies in mutual settlements among Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states has topped 90%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

Speaking at a restricted-format meeting of CIS leaders, Putin emphasized that the bloc's financial infrastructure is now independent of external influence, enabling it to effectively address current challenges.

"A stable financial infrastructure that is independent of external influence allows us to address many of today's challenges quite effectively," the Russian president said. "Virtually all mutual settlements are carried out in national currencies, with their share in commercial transactions between our states exceeding 90%. This allows us to deepen economic cooperation regardless of external pressures or market conditions."
