Team Group's T-Create Expert P34F 1 TB Portable SSD with Find My pairs a solid, Apple-friendly design with AirTag-grade tracking that works flawlessly. Its huge SLC cache offering sustained writes over 860 MB/s make it great for long transfers, even if the 10 Gbps link holds back peak speed.

We have with us the Team Group T-Create Expert P34F, a premium portable SSD designed to expand the storage of your iPhone or iPad. This drive provides fast, local storage and is compact and lightweight, allowing you to opt for iPhones with lower storage capacities. The price difference between the base 256 GB version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the top 1 TB can be as high as $430. This is enough of a price gap to let you buy a portable SSD such as the P34F we're reviewing today, and end up with more total storage.
The T-Create Expert P34F features official support for Apple Find My, which lets you locate the drive in almost any populated place in the world. This works on essentially the same concept as AirTags—it uses power from an onboard coin cell to periodically broadcast a ping, which is picked up by any Apple device in the vicinity and relayed to Apple. Triangulation between various Apple devices improves accuracy of the location.

The drive also comes with an alarm function that resembles the audible alarms put out by recent versions of AirPods. You know the drive is home, Find My tells you that it is, but you've misplaced it somewhere. What do you do? You pull up Find My on your iPhone and get the AirPods to Play a Sound (an alarm), which will draw you to it. The T-Create Expert P34F comes with a similar alarm function, letting you use Find My to sound an alarm.
The T-Create brand by Team Group is targeted at creative professionals in need of reliable data storage on the move, as well as power users in the workstation ecosystem. It offers a whole range of products spanning portable SSDs like the P34F in this review, to memory cards for photographers, to internal SSDs and PC DDR5 memory for creators; and DDR5 RDIMMs for workstation power-users.
The T-Create Expert P34F variant we're reviewing today comes with 1 TB of capacity, and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps interface. The probable reason Team Group didn't opt for 20 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is because Apple devices don't feature 20 Gbps Gen 2x2; they top out at 10 Gbps for USB 3.2, and then Macs and iPad Pros offer 40 Gbps or 80 Gbps Thunderbolt interfaces, depending on the model. If you connect a 20 Gbps portable SSD to a 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4 port on a Mac, it falls back to 10 Gbps, not 20 Gbps. Team Group seems to be squarely targeting Apple users with this drive. An interesting choice though, is that the drive comes pre-formatted in exFAT, not APFS.
The 1 TB variant of the T-Create Expert P34F is priced at $238, which is a bit on the pricey side, and you'd expect at least 20 Gbps transfer speeds for this price, if not 40 Gbps USB4, but the price covers its integrated AirTag, and a premium appearance that blends with the aesthetic of your iPad Pro or iPhone.
