SKATEABLE, the mini skatepark by XPOME connects graffiti, typography, and skateboarding through concrete and steel.
SKATEABLE is a project by Bulgarian graffiti artist XPOME, created for an ongoing exhibition on the history of skateboarding in Bulgaria at the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Center in Gabrovo. Invited to create a sculpture for the exhibition, XPOME developed a concrete mini skatepark in front of the center’s old building.
all images ©XPOMEFive concrete and steel letters become skatepark elementsThe sculpture spells out ‘XPOME,’ the artist’s name, through five concrete and steel letters, each functioning as a different element for skateboarding or resting. The X forms a double quarter pipe, while the P incorporates a classic rail around a concrete island. The O becomes the first volcano ever built in Bulgaria, and the M functions as a large bench for sliding and grinding. The E forms a small triple jumping platform.
