Christopher Nolan's insightful interview that explores his cinematic philosophy and themes.
The post Are you a bard for a civilization at dusk? appeared first on aditya's blog.
I am a big time fan of Christopher Nolan’s movies. His experiments with story telling are something I really find very edifying.
I’ve not yet watched “The Odyssey” and hope to catch it soon. This interview of Nolan by Zhong Shu, a doctoral student from Beijing, China.
The interview is pretty short but incredible, because it really explores Nolan’s philosophy to storytelling and touches on themes of hubris, civilisational pride, repentance. The best is how it starts with Zhong Shu asking Nolan “Are you a bard for a civilsation at dusk?” alluding to Homer the author of the Iliad and the Odyssey as possibly the bard for civilisation at dawn.
