Anthony Yarde has dynamited his way out of purdah and into a promised world light-heavyweight title fight by his brutal revenge demolition of Lyndon Arthur on Saturday night.

This savage four-round avenging of his meek loss to Manchester rival Arthur last year has secured Yarde's place in line to challenge the winner of Callum Johnson's WBO championship tilt at Joe Smith Jr in January.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that arrangement with his US counterpart Bob Arum after Yarde's obliteration of Arthur in their grudge rematch provoked ugly brawls between rival fans in the Copper Box at London's Olympic Park.

Even though some louts tried attacking each other with broken seats, none inflicted as much damage as Yarde on Arthur with his fists.

Yarde was a man possessed but more importantly a fighter transformed from the one who slipped down the world rankings after he let himself be jabbed to a split points defeat by Arthur in their first fight.

That set back led to an inquest into the unorthodox methods of his trainer Tunde Ajayi, who admitted lessons needed to be learned and put his boxer above his ego by agreeing to the addition of much-respected old school veteran James Cook to their team.

Whoever whispered most convincingly into Yarde's ear in recent weeks performed a vital service, turning him into a wrecking ball from the first second of this fight.

Yarde stormed through the Arthur jab like some medieval war-lord, repeatedly staggering him with hooks and uppercuts throughout the first three rounds.

The defending Commonwealth champion grabbed his assailant but could not hold on much longer.

The two-fisted punishment was unrelenting and mid-way through the fourth he was sent crashing to the canvas and almost through the ropes by a vicious series of lefts and finally a sledge-hammer right.

Gallantly, Arthur lurched to his feet but evidence as to the wisdom of referee Bob Williams in refusing to let the onslaught continue came as he collapsed into his corner semi-conscious.

Yarde declared himself 'very excited' by the prospect of a second world title bid. So he should be.

His first attempt, against Sergey Kovalev in Russia, came too soon. Thus although he started that fight promisingly it ended with him being stopped by the Krusher as he tired.

For the next one, at 30 and be it against Smith Jr or Johnson, he will be ready.
