Tobias is contributing to the RISC-V community across research, education, open hardware, and community building.

He co-organized MATTERV, a RISC-V special session at DSD 2026 focused on RISC-V hardware, software, tools, and open educational resources.

Together with fellow Advocate Alessandra Dolmeta and other organizers, Tobias helped establish the first OpenSoC4HE workshop, where he serves as Program Chair, bringing educators and open-hardware practitioners together to share teaching experiences and resources.

His work also includes research on RISC-V ISA extensions and digital design education, serving on the jury for the LAYR Open Chips Challenge, and supporting the RISC-V Community Challenge with HaDes-V. He helped participants throughout the challenge, brought the hands-on workshop to Bologna during RISC-V Summit Europe, and co-hosted the final online presentations in August.

He also recently joined his student Bernd Stelzl for the first RISC-V Builders episode, where they shared how they turned the HaDes-V teaching processor into a RISC-V system capable of running DOOM.

From research and education to community events and open hardware, Tobias is helping create opportunities for others to learn, contribute, and build with RISC-V.
