Tata Motors HCV Sales Rise 40.3% In Q2 FY27
Tata Motors sold 33,756 HCV trucks in Q2 FY27, compared with 24,056 units in Q2 FY26. The company attributed demand for HCVs to activity in core sectors, infrastructure, construction and mining.
Domestic MH&ICV sales increased 34.1 percent year on year to 55,582 units in Q2 FY27 from 41,461 units in the corresponding period last year. Including international sales, MH&ICV volumes rose 31.3 percent to 59,194 units from 45,095 units.
International Commercial Vehicle Sales Grow 177.3%
Tata Motors’ international business recorded the highest percentage increase among the reported categories, with Q2 FY27 sales rising to 21,132 units from 7,620 units a year earlier. This represents a 177.3 percent year-on-year increase.
For September, international business sales stood at 7,575 units, up from 2,714 units in September 2025, an increase of 179.1 percent.
Tata Motors EV Volumes Rise 2.4 Times
Tata Motors said its electric vehicle volumes increased 2.4 times year on year in Q2 FY27. The release does not provide the corresponding absolute EV volume.
Tata Motors MD and CEO Girish Wagh said the company saw demand across commercial vehicle segments during the quarter. He pointed to infrastructure, construction and mining activity for HCVs, while e-commerce, FMCG, FMCD and two-wheeler logistics supported ILMCVs. Consumption-led freight movements supported SCV and pickup volumes, while passenger transportation benefited from last-mile mobility, government orders and intercity travel.
The company identified commodity costs, diesel prices, possible interest-rate increases and global uncertainties as key factors to monitor. It also expects government capital expenditure, mining and construction activity, e-commerce volumes and the festive season to influence freight and transportation demand in the second half of FY27.
