Ilhan Omar has requested her supporters to donate money to her campaign as she battles the Trump administration over an investigation into her immigration documents. Homeland Security Investigations, the investigative arm of ICE, raided Omar's home on Tuesday as the Justice Department continued its investigation.

The Somali-born congresswoman's campaign subsequently sent supporters a fundraising email referencing the raid and asking them to help her prepare for what lies ahead, indicating the challenges she is expected to face. Contributions started at $10. "We have an obligation to fight back against this ludicrous, partisan investigation, and show that we will not let Trump's abuse of power go unchecked," the email read.

"We must be prepared for whatever comes our way, and every dollar we raise makes a difference. Thank you." Omar arrived in the United States as a child refugee from Somalia and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Federal investigators are reportedly reviewing documents from her childhood that were completed by her late father.

Trump called Omar "a disaster" during a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday, just hours after federal agents raided the Minnesota Democrat's home.

Trump denied any involvement in the FBI search, telling reporters he had long viewed Omar as "totally crooked personally" and maintaining that the matter fell under the Justice Department's jurisdiction.

The president has repeatedly alleged that Omar married her brother to secure U.S. citizenship. The congresswoman has denied the accusation. The President brought up the allegation again at rallies last December and in May, prolonging his years-long clash with Omar, who has called him a "murderer."

Federal Election Commission records show Omar's campaign raised $5.83 million for the 2026 election cycle between Jan. 1, 2025, and July 22.

The FBI search of Omar's home prompted an angry response from Democrats, who accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement to target one of the president's most vocal critics less than a month before the midterm elections.

Omar accused the Trump administration of intensifying its efforts to intimidate her, vowing not to back down. "For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced," she wrote on X.

On Monday evening, supporters gathered in Minneapolis for an event titled "Stand with Ilhan," organized by the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

As Omar seeks financial backing from her constituents, fellow Democrats have also rallied to her defense.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned the FBI search, accusing the administration of repeatedly going after the Minnesota congresswoman. In a post on X, she described the raid as an unacceptable abuse of power and pledged her support for Omar.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who has faced a Justice Department investigation over alleged obstruction of federal immigration enforcement, accused Trump of abusing his authority to target political opponents in the weeks leading up to the election.

Rep. Ro Khanna described the raid as "simply chilling," alleging that the Trump administration was targeting political adversaries and Muslim Americans.

House Democratic leaders, including Hakeem Jeffries and Peter Aguilar, slammed the operation and called on the Justice and Homeland Security departments to explain why federal agents searched the congresswoman's home so close to an election.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the full details or scope of the investigation.
