Two 16-year-olds are in custody after another teen was stabbed Saturday evening in Scarborough.

Toronto police were called to the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Birchmount Road at approximately 10:40 p.m. 

According to investigators, the 17-year-old victim was at a street festival when he was approached by two suspects and 10 to 15 of their friends.

Police say a fight broke out and the suspects allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed the victim.

“The victim and one of the accused were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” detectives wrote in a press release shared on Sunday. 

Police also add that the victim and two suspects are known to each other.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested and charged two 16-year-old boys from Toronto with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and disobeying a previous court order.

The youths cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
