Calvin Harris shocked fans last week when he teased that he is dipping his toe into the country music scene. 

And the DJ, 41, has also debuted a shock new look to match his genre shift. 

Sharing promo for the his new song Smoke The Pain Away, Calvin grew his sandy locks out as he unveiled his new rugged appearance - looking worlds away from his former clean-cut image.

Calvin also sported a significantly longer beard and full moustache as he posed for snaps in a khaki worker jacket paired with a polo shirt. 

'Pre save SMOKE THE PAIN AWAY coming Fri,' Calvin captioned the striking snap. 

The musician, real name Adam Wiles, gave fans a glimpse of his upcoming song as he revealed his foray into country music last week.

He posted a short clip of him singing the new track – titled Smoke the Pain Away – on social media, stating that the track will be released this Friday.

The song, which his team is marketing as 'genre-blending,' marks Harris' first major return to vocals after several years and is a far departure from the electro hits that brought him to fame.

Much of the Scots star's early work, including his 2007 debut album I Created Disco featured his own vocals.

However, after deciding to stop singing live in 2010, this is the first track to feature his voice since 2014.

In an article about Harris's change of direction, Music Radar wrote: 'It's a known fact that country music is hotter than ever and, always willing to ride a genre-mashing bucking bronco, here comes Calvin Harris, fresh out of the stocks on yet another new style.'

The new song already has a couple of famous fans, including his wife - Radio 1 DJ Vick Hope, who responded to the post of the song clip, writing: 'Those vocals. YEEEESSSSS!'

'I LOVE IT WHEN YOU DO THE VOCALS,' TV presenter Davina McCall wrote, while singer Tom Grennan said: 'Love this!!'

'The Johnny Cash Era,' rapper Example noted, as Tinie Tempah added: 'Was playing girls this morning. glad the vocals are back.'

And this isn't the first time the musician has switched up his look dramatically. 

Back in 2007, when he released his debut album I Created Disco, Calvin was a pale and scruffy brunette who favoured a battered leather jacket, hooded tops and loose jeans. 

Indeed his looks were enough to stop his now-wife Vick from going on a date with him when he first asked her out more than a decade ago. 

'He looked how he used to look, I was shallow, I was 19, and I said "no",' she revealed in 2018. 'It turns out Calvin Harris was going to turn into an Adonis.'

The transformation started around 2012 when Calvin had his eyes opened to the benefits of healthy eating after moving to LA.

'The food is fantastic over here. You can eat healthily, there’s a lot more healthy options than in the UK — that's a fact,' he said at the time. 

It was around this time that he ditched the hair dye and began to embrace his height, which had been a source of embarrassment growing up. 

'It was hard being the tallest person in class,' he said in 2009. 'Especially when you are a teenager. You want to keep your head down. I did anyway. 

'When you are a spotty awkward teenager, you don't want people to look at you. It's a self-conscious thing. Everyone looks at you because you are extra gangly. It's only in the last five years that I have come to terms with the fact that I am a big tall b******.'

And the new music isn't the only change in the musician's life, as he is putting the finishing touches on a Cotswolds mansion where he plans to set up home with his wife Vick.

The multi-millionaire - who has produced a string of hits for some of the world's biggest pop stars - has won praise from locals and planners after demolishing an 'ugly' post-war property and building a grand 'Cotswold country house' in its place.

He hired one the Royal Family's favourite architects to build a home fit for a king and now plans to swap rave culture for agriculture - with the couple scheduled to move in over the summer.

Teams of builders are currently working on the stunning three-storey property which is set in a remote location on the outskirts of a desirable Gloucestershire village.

One workman told MailOnline: 'This is Calvin Harris' new home. There's no expense spared and it's going to be amazing.

'The best thing is he won't have a neighbour in sight when he moves in, just a decent pub down the road.'

The worker added: 'He's hoping it will be finished by August but that's highly unlikely. It's a big project and there's an army of us working here. We're doing our best to get it done for him as soon as possible.'

Dumfries-born Calvin snapped up the property, which is set in 10 acres of land and has its own vineyard as well as a swimming pool and tennis court, for £3.6million in 2019. It is registered in the name of law firm Farrar & Co.

In 2021, the One Kiss producer submitted an application to Cotswold District Council with plans drawn up by Ben Pentreath - who is said to be King Charles' 'go-to' architect and has also worked for the Prince and Princess of Wales.

As well as the main home, a cottage and pool house building were also knocked down as part of the plans.

The new mansion features a series of large ground floor rooms including kitchen, dining room and TV snug, with three large bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms, on the first floor and two further bedrooms on the second floor which also each have en-suite bathrooms.

There is a separate staff quarters which has two bedrooms as well as a gym, two glass houses and other outbuildings including a garage block.

Further plans were approved to build a pond in the grounds and last year the council gave the go-ahead to add a timber clad hideout pod, to study wildlife, as well as a single-storey hot yoga studio at the bottom of the garden.

Calvin and Vick are expected to be doing some farming on their new estate which will have woodland gardens, vegetable beds and a working kitchen garden when work is completed.
