The agreement establishes a structured framework to assess the application of Hyperloop technology for cargo and freight transportation across domestic as well as international markets
Rolling stock manufacturer Titagarh Rail Systems on Thursday said it has entered into a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with TuTr Hyperloop, a technology company specialising in Hyperloop propulsion and advanced mobility technologies.
TuTr Hyperloop, an IIT Madras-incubated deep-tech startup, is focused on developing indigenous Hyperloop, magnetic levitation (Maglev), and Linear Induction Motor technologies for high-speed cargo and passenger transportation systems in India and abroad.
In a stock exchange filing, Kolkata-based Titagarh Rail Systems said the collaboration aimed to develop first-of-its-kind Hyperloop technology enabled freight transportation solutions from India.
“This strategic collaboration brings together TRSL’s proven expertise in the design, engineering and manufacturing of rolling stock with TuTr Hyperloop’s capabilities in Hyperloop propulsion, control systems and advanced mobility technologies. Together, the two companies will evaluate, design, develop, integrate and explore the commercialisation of high-speed, energy-efficient freight transportation systems aligned with future logistics and infrastructure needs,” it said.
The agreement establishes a structured framework to assess the application of Hyperloop technology for cargo and freight transportation across domestic as well as international markets. Through this strategic collaboration, Titagarh Rail Systems and TuTr Hyperloop aim to accelerate the development and deployment of cutting-edge Hyperloop-enabled cargo mobility solutions through indigenous design, engineering and manufacturing.
Prithish Chowdhary, Deputy Managing Director, Titagarh Rail Systems, said, “At Titagarh Rail Systems, we believe the future of transportation will be driven by engineering innovation, modern design and advanced manufacturing. This strategic collaboration with TuTr Hyperloop represents an important milestone towards engineering India’s first Hyperloop freight mobility platform.
”Aravind Bharadwaj, Co-Founder & Director, TuTr Hyperloop, said, “This collaboration with Titagarh Rail Systems represents a defining moment for India’s advanced mobility ecosystem. By combining TuTr Hyperloop’s indigenous propulsion and Hyperloop technologies with Titagarh’s world-class expertise in wagon manufacturing and rail mobility, we aim to create next-generation cargo transportation solutions that are faster, more efficient, and globally competitive.”
Bharadwaj said this partnership was a testament to the power of startup-industry collaboration in transforming cutting-edge research into deployable products. “Together, we are taking India’s indigenous Hyperloop technologies from the laboratory to large-scale commercial applications, not only for India but also for global markets,” he added.
