The actress who plays Vicki Fowler on EastEnders comes from a line of actors who've had roles on soaps, huge TV dramas and even a legendary Hollywood rom-com. 

Alice Haig took on the role of the waitress, who is the daughter of Michelle Fowler (Jenna Russell) and Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), last year. 

Back in February 2025 it was revealed that Sharon Watts' sister Vicki would be returning to the BBC soap after 21 years, following the death of Martin Fowler. 

Soap star Alice took over from Scarlett Alice Johnson, who played the role between 2003 and 2004.

Before that, Samantha Leigh Martin was Vicki between 1988 and 1995, and Emma Henry landed the role between 1986 and 1988. 

Alice has been in various other TV programmes and stage shows prior to EastEnders, including Jett, This Is Going to Hurt, Rain Dogs and The Day of the Jackal. 

What some EastEnders fans may not know is that Alice's parents are also in the same industry as her. 

Her dad David Haig, 70, has been in the spotlight since the 70s. 

He has appeared in various theatre shows, films and TV programmes over the past 40 years. 

Some of his film credentials include Morons from Outer Space, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Two Weeks Notice, Florence Foster Jenkins and Downton Abbey. 

David has been in a number of telly shows such as Doctor Who, Inspector Morse, The Bill, The Thin Blue Line, Crime and Punishment, Agatha Christie's Marple: Murder Is Easy, My Family, Midsomer Murders, Doc Martin, The Wright Play, and Killing Eve. 

Meanwhile Alice's mum Jane Gray, who also goes by Jane Galloway, is an also actress. 

She has starred in the likes of The Buddha of Suburbia, Postcards From The Edge, CBS Summer Playhouse and Bliss.

Jane has also been in 3rd Rock From The Sun, The Bill, Doctors and even EastEnders too. 

Vicki returned to the soap after more than 20 years to attend the funeral of her uncle, who was killed off during the live episode last year. 

Martin died after being crushed by a metal beam, following The Queen Vic collapsing during an explosion.

His ex and soulmate Stacey Slater was by his side in heartbreaking scenes. 

Vicki returned with her new flame Ross and his son Jowl, which shocked her sister Sharon as she revealed they plan to stay full time.

Of her soap debut, Alice said: 'I am so excited. I have always watched the show, and I was born in February 1985, so I'm the same age as EastEnders! 

'It's so cool to be playing a character like Vicki - we think we know her, but a lot has changed. 

'I can't wait for all the Albert Square drama ahead.'

But her debut left some fans feeling furious after the recast left them feeling 'upset'.

At the time, some rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts.

'I didn't even realise that it's Vicki Fowler (another recast).'

'I feel the time it wrong for Vicki especially as a recast, she should have been brought back either when Michelle was brought back & recast or when Denny died to support Sharon with a Vicki recast why couldn't they do the same for spence as original actor definitely won't be back.'

'I cannot believe the legendary Vicki Fowler has been recast.'
