Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, a briefing for representatives of foreign embassies in Cairo on investment opportunities and recent developments in Egypt’s energy and mining sectors.

In his remarks, Abdelatty said that the meeting comes at a time when global energy markets are facing growing challenges stemming from regional and international developments, stressing the importance of international cooperation to strengthen energy security and diversify energy sources.

He also reviewed Egypt’s advantages as a regional energy hub, citing its strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and investments in conventional and renewable energy, as well as the country’s mining potential.

Meanwhile, Badawi outlined government measures to increase the attractiveness of the petroleum and mining sectors for investors, including incentives for exploration and production, updated investment agreements, and the regular settlement of payments to foreign partners.

He also reviewed investment opportunities available through the Egypt Upstream Gateway, seismic survey programs in several regions, and opportunities in natural gas infrastructure and the petrochemical industry.

The meeting also included discussions with embassy representatives on expanding cooperation in the energy and mining sectors, investment opportunities, and recent steps to improve Egypt’s investment climate and facilitate the work of foreign companies.
