The post ‘EA Sports FC’ celebrates England’s World Cup success with ‘FIFA’ bangers playlist appeared first on NME.
EA Sports FC has launched a new ‘Ultimate’ playlist featuring English FIFA anthems to celebrate the World Cup.
‘EA Sports FC Ultimate Mix: England’ was shared earlier this week after the England men’s football team beat Mexico to reach the quarter finals in the World Cup.
The playlist was curated to “celebrate the best of English music” and pulls from the full back catalogue of EA Sports FC soundtracks. According to a press release, this “cements the series’ legacy as a platform for global music discovery [and] creates a definitive home for the music that has shaped generations of football fans.”
The ‘EA Sports FC Ultimate Mix: England’ features 50 tracks from more than 500 that have previously featured on EA Sports FC and FIFA soundtracks. “Spanning genres from indie and electronic to grime and pop, the playlist reflects the diversity of English music as fans up and down the country come together to support England this summer,” continues the press release. Each playlist is ordered dynamically using Spotify’s algorithm, and features tracks from Blur, Charli XCX, Glass Animals, Fatboy Slim, Foals and more.

EA Sports have released ‘Ultimate’ playlists for USA, Brazil and Germany, while Spain will be the focus country for next weeks mix.
“The makers of FIFA must employ some very clever people who are clued up on what is happening in pop culture,” Fatboy Slim’s Norman Cook said in an interview with Huck Magazine. “Their use of ‘Rockafella Skank’ was very early in my career, before I had become mainstream. Those people have their fingers on the pulse and reflect and influence the mood of their customers.”
FIFA confirmed its first new video game in four years this March, following the split with EA Sports. Arcade sports title Heroes is a five-v-five arcade title that features “a string of superpowers players” who are able to teleport through balls and deliver meteor shots, and magnetic tackles. Another FIFA game launched on Netflix recently to coincide with the World Cup.
