AI is all about building Gigawatts on Earth or in Space faster and powering millions of AI chips with them to deliver more AI tokens and more powerful AI.

Tesla and SpaceX are not just consumers of power — they are becoming active shapers of the grid through hardware scale, software intelligence (Autobidder), aggregation (VPP), and willingness to fund infrastructure. This hybrid model (batteries + rapid gas + optimized software + co-located renewables) is one of the fastest ways to deliver the gigawatts of firm, flexible power these sites require while improving grid stability overall.

Tesla is able shape the Grid on Earth. Tesla signed a deal with Sunrun to get control of 16 Gigawatts of solar power and 4+ gigawatts of residential battery storage. Tesla runs autobidder which helps utilities get more money bidding energy from battery storage. Tesla AutoBidder is Tesla’s real-time trading and control platform for energy storage assets (primarily Megapacks at utility scale and Powerwalls in homes). It uses machine learning, forecasting, and optimization algorithms to automatically buy and sell electricity in wholesale markets to maximize revenue for battery owners while supporting grid stability.

Tesla has a direct connection to grid operators. AutoBidder interfaces directly with ISO/RTO systems via APIs. This gives Tesla real-time access to Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs) at thousands of specific nodes on the grid, Ancillary service requirements and prices, Real-time frequency, reserve margins, and congestion data.

AutoBidder is Tesla’s real-time AI trading and dispatch platform. When combined with VPP aggregation, it gives Tesla dispatchable control over distributed solar + storage assets across wide areas. When paired with fast-deploy gas solutions (APR Energy, Doosan Turbines, Rapid Megapack installations). Tesla and SpaceX can ensure a utility can provide another 150 MW or Gigawatt in locations where SpaceXAI has positioned an expanding AI data center.

Elon bought APR Energy days ago and APR has 1.1 GW of already built with about 40 25-35MW turbines. They can build 10-20+ more by the end of 2027 with additional funding from Elon and SpaceX.

51-49% partnership for smaller mobile units from Caterpillar subsidiary for another 1 GW of units over 2-3 years. xAI’s joint venture (JV) with Solaris Energy Infrastructure (50.1% Solaris-Caterpillar Subsidiary, 49.9% xAI) has already deployed $112 million in Q2 2025 CapEx for turbines, with Q4 2025-Q1 2026 ramping to enable over 1.1 GW total by Q2 2027 and options for 1.5+ GW. The mobile turbines can reach 1.1 gigawatts with about 30+ Titan-350 turbines.

New buildings and building expansions already have permits at colossus 1, colossus 2 and other locations.

Natural gas supply increase and increased utility power from TVA and Memphis Gas are contracted. There is power from Memphis Light, Gas & Water/MLGW) and TVA as turbines handle 90%+ load. No full tie-in yet due to TVA delays.

A second dedicated substation (150-300 MW) is under construction and is directly funded by xAI ($50M+
upfront).

Critical bottleneck has been the power turbine or other systems to convert natural gas in to power. By Q4, 2026 SpaceX will have 2 GW of turbines ready for install or installed.

SPACEXAI has 20% of Nvidia B300 and Rubin chips allocated and have memory allocations.

Every GW rents at $50 billion per year per GW at the Google 110,000 G200 rate $11B per year for 0.2 GW.
