The Emmerdale actress and her Hollyoaks star brother Jamie Lomas announced that their beloved mum Helen Webb had passed away on March 15 after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's.
Charley Webb has opened up about how she was left "nearly broken" with how she said goodbye to her late mum following her death on Mother's Day.
The Emmerdale actress, 38, and her Hollyoaks star brother Jamie Lomas, 50, announced that their beloved mum Helen Webb had passed away on March 15 after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
'Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia,' the NHS states. 'Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of conditions that affect different brain functions, including memory.'
Just two weeks after her passing, Charley had private time with Helen in the chapel of rest and openly shared how it made her feel with her fans.
Charley told her 595k followers on the platform: 'I went to see my mum today in the chapel of rest.
'I know not everyone wants to do that when someone passes but it felt important for me.

'It was actually much harder than I thought it would be and saying goodbye nearly broke me but I’m SO relieved I did it.'
Charley and Jamie - famed for playing Debbie Dingle and Warren Fox on Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, respectively - announced their beloved mum's death with a heartbreaking Instagram post on March 15.
Emmerdale legend Charley shared a sweet picture of her as a child kissing Helen on the cheek with the caption: 'My beautiful Mum left us today on Mother’s Day. 15/03/2026.
'The past twelve years were stolen from us, that’s the only way to describe this feeling. 'The long goodbye', Thank you to everyone for all of your support, especially everyone that’s looked after her so well for the last 3 years.
'And to all of my closest people, I couldn’t live without you.'
Meanwhile, Jamie posted a more recent picture of himself adorably cuddling Helen as they smiled at the camera, with the caption: 'Sadly we lost our beautiful mum today on Mother’s Day.
'After a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s, she finally decided it was time to leave us. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone with this awful illness, you will know that you lose them not once but twice.
'Our mum was always so strong and to watch her over the years slowly turn into someone who is just a shell of who they once were is very difficult to take and watch.

Everyone experiences dementia differently. Use this checklist to help you make a note of your symptoms before you talk to your GP.
'You are now at peace mum and we love you and we will miss you so so much. You were the first person to love me before the world even knew I existed.
'Good night mum RIP.
'I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who cared for her on a daily basis and for those who helped her in some way. You truly are all amazing people (sic).'
Back in February Charley bravely opened up about her mum's devastating battle with early-onset dementia - and the struggle she had to get her diagnosed at the age of just 64.
Charley said on Good Morning Britain: 'She was 64 and she got the diagnosis. But of course, the symptoms come before that. You know, it takes time.
'She actually forgot something quite huge, which is quite a personal thing, and I just knew in that moment it was something that she wouldn't have forgotten.
'I think everyone around me at the time was like, you're being dramatic, everything's fine. I was like, "No, something is not right."'
The actress's revelation prompted the show's host, Ed Balls, 58, to share a similar revelation he had ahead of his own mum being diagnosed with dementia and he explained that despite being a keen cook, she attempted to serve an uncooked chicken casserole.
Charley said that following her mum's diagnosis, she would urge anyone who suspects that a loved one has dementia to push for the right answer.
She explained: 'I wouldn't delay getting diagnosed. The process is quite long, especially for someone who's younger, because they sort of go, "Oh, I think it could be this or [that]."
'I mean, we got fobbed off with water infections and all sorts of things which can affect your memory.'
The actress said that she ultimately felt like her GP did and didn't listen to her concerns and advised anyone who believes that their loved one could have early-onset dementia to 'not take no for an answer.'
In 2023, Charley first revealed Helen's Alzheimer’s battle, and in January 2026, she admitted the pain it had caused her family.
Speaking on The Life of Bryony podcast, Charley explained to 45-year-old host Bryony Gordon: 'I think I have dealt with this situation probably in quite a bizarre way.
'I mean, I'm definitely a compartmentaliser.
'I know this about myself, especially since I've been having therapy recently. Everything's in a box, and you just shut it off.
'But I have to be honest - and I know this is controversial - I really struggle to go and see my mum without getting upset.
Holding back tears, Charley continued: 'It's hard. It's not the person that you love, you know?
'I think, actually, it's good that people get to see this, though, because if they're going through it, you feel alone.'
