Their hot and steamy sex scenes left an intimacy coordinator so flustered she threw her hands in the air and walked off set, declaring: 'I can't take this!'

And Liam Neeson has done little to temper talk of a real life romance with his costar Pamela Anderson, leaving fans clamoring to know more after announcing he was 'madly in love' with the former Baywatch babe earlier this year. 

The Hollywood hard man, 73, told People that Anderson was 'just terrific to work with' on their new film, The Naked Gun, in a gushing joint interview that first sparked the rumor mill last year. 

In return, Anderson described her co-star as 'humble' and hailed him 'the perfect gentleman.' Doing little to dispel the rumblings, the Canadian-born actress, 58, later told EW: 'Our chemistry was clear from the start.'

Plus, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other at the red carpet premiere of their new film in London on Tuesday.

But when their new comedy hits theaters this summer, will fans be witness to a blossoming romance between two people who have both overcome devastating heartbreak? Or was their mutual love fest a clever marketing ploy? 

Regardless, there is no denying that the stars hit it off immediately. Insiders have told the Daily Mail that they 'gravitated towards each other' and formed a 'natural bond' when filming started last May.

Anderson portrays nightclub singer Beth, who seeks the help of Police Squad following the murder of her brother in the sequel to the slapstick '80s and '90s cult comedy franchise which parodied police procedurals. Neeson plays Los Angeles Police Squad detective Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen's hapless Frank Drebin.

The role follows her turn in The Last Showgirl, which was a hit with fans and critics alike, and earned Anderson her first Golden Globes nomination.

The former Playboy Playmate has undergone a transition in recent years, moving away from her pinup roots - she has ditched makeup on the red carpet and eschewed her '90s glam for a more pared-down look - and is finally being taken seriously as an actress.

In many ways, perennially single Neeson has been a rock for Anderson as she has dealt with her newfound success in Hollywood. 

They have a 'deep friendship' with 'protection and trust' and have 'impacted each other's lives' at the perfect time.

'Pam and Liam hit it off immediately,' our insider said. 'They are both empathetic, loving people that gravitated to each other in such a way that was really honest. People could see that Liam wanted to protect her. They just had, and still have, this bond that is very natural and loving.

'She hasn't always been protected in her relationships, platonic or romantic, and what Liam brings to the table is a sense of honesty, protection and overall good-natured respect that anyone would love to have.'

Anderson has been in many high-profile and stormy relationships over the years. She was married to rock star Tommy Lee of heavy metal band Mötley Crüe from 1995 until their tumultuous split in 1998 following the release of their stolen sex tape. They share sons Brandon, 28, and Dylan, 27.

Anderson wed rocker Kid Rock in 2006, but they divorced a year later. 

She went on to marry poker player Rick Salomon from 2007 until 2008 and again from 2014 until 2015.

Anderson then wed A Star Is Born and Batman producer Jon Peters in a private ceremony in Malibu on January 20, 2020. They were married for only 12 days. 

Her fifth husband was her bodyguard Dan Hayhurst, but they were married for just 13 months before she filed for divorce in 2022. 

Anderson met Hayhurst, who lived on Vancouver Island, during the early days of the pandemic, so their relationship was much quieter.

In 2024, Anderson opened up about dating on The Drew Barrymore Show and said: 'I'm just thinking about this whole love affair I'm having right now with just life and myself.'

Despite rumors running rampant, Neeson has too taken a step back from dating, and like Anderson, is reportedly in no rush to find love right now. The Northern Irish actor, who has starred in Schindler's List and Star Wars, has remained single since the sudden death of his actress wife Natasha Richardson in 2009. They had two sons, Micheál Richardson, 30, and Daniel Neeson, 28.

'Liam has long felt that he isn't going to date anymore and this connection with Pam is nothing more than an incredible friendship that they will share forever,' our insider said. 

'Liam is in love with Pam, but only as friends. Some might confuse their bond for something more.'

A separate source confirmed that the co-stars have 'been flirty and grown close but it’s not a relationship at all.' They said while they 'can’t speak for Pamela down the line or venture to guess about any man that may cross her path, she does love a wedding.'

'I really don’t know what she’d be open to, but she’s always a happy bride,' the source teased before hinting that the costars are playing up to the rumors ahead of the film release.  

The Naked Gun, which premieres on August 1, also features Kevin Durand, Busta Rhymes, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and Eddie Yu.
