Fifteen-year-old entrepreneur and basketball player Egypt Dean has made headlines with a seven-figure strategic investment in Ballislife HYDRO, the sports drink brand from Ballislife Drink Inc. Despite still being in high school, Egypt has crafted an impressive entrepreneurial narrative.
At age five, he earned royalties from a beat featured by Kendrick Lamar. The capital accrued by Dean’s royalties has been earned by him since he was 5 years old. These creative earnings funded his investment in Ballislife HYDRO.
This deal is Dean’s commitment to the Ballislife HYDRO brand and the start of a strategic partnership as the brand grows nationally. Beyond capital, the partnership will enable high-impact collaborations, marketing, retail growth, and access to powerful sports and business networks.

Ballislife HYDRO is a next-generation wellness sports hydration beverage developed in partnership with Ballislife Inc. It’s designed for the next generation of athletes looking for healthier hydration without sacrificing performance, taste, or cultural relevance. According to a press release, the brand was created to offer functional hydration without the high sugar, artificial ingredients, or caffeine that are often found in many traditional sports drinks, combining a performance-driven formula with real connections to basketball culture.
Powered by the massive basketball ecosystem built by Ballislife and an NBA equity partners team, the brand touches millions of athletes and fans through digital content, live events, athlete relationships, and grassroots basketball initiatives.
Dean’s decision to invest was motivated by two passions that have influenced a significant portion of his early life: basketball and entrepreneurship. As a young businessman and competitive basketball player, he saw Ballislife HYDRO as a unique chance to support a company that sits at the nexus of basketball culture, healthier hydration, and athlete performance.
Dean wrote in a statement, “As someone who loves the game and spends many hours training and competing, I connected immediately with what Ballislife Hydro is building. Basketball has always been a huge part of my life, and I love how HYDRO is a better option to stay hydrated with less sugar and still tastes amazing. This was an opportunity to invest in something I genuinely believe in, a brand that’s connected to the game and built for athletes like me.”
Along with his business endeavors, Dean is a skilled basketball player who keeps improving at a high level and is gaining recognition as one of the most promising young basketball prospects of the future.
Benjamin Varon Schubert, Co-Founder and CEO of Ballislife Drink, commended Dean’s entrepreneurial vision, stating, “Most teenagers spend money. Egypt chose to invest it. What impressed us wasn’t his age, it was the conviction behind the decision. He discovered the brand as an athlete, believed in the mission, and chose to put his own capital behind what we’re building. That’s the kind of long-term thinking you rarely see at any age.”
Ballislife Inc.’s CEO, Matt Rodriguez, noted that their collaboration with Dean started when he shared Hydro on Instagram. Rodriguez compared Dean’s vision to his own when he founded Ballislife at the age of 19 to engage the next generation, praising the 15-year-old’s entrepreneurial mindset and desire to create a meaningful brand.
Dean’s parents, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, have long championed creativity and independent thinking.
Swizz Beatz said, “We’ve always encouraged our children to pursue their passions and make thoughtful decisions. Egypt did his homework, believed in the opportunity, and invested because it aligned with who he is. We’re proud to support him as he continues building his own path.”
