Saturday Night Live has paid tribute to the late Rob Reiner following his heartbreaking death at age 78 last week.

The actor and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found stabbed to death at their home last weekend and their son, Nick, has been charged in the killing, facing two counts of first-degree murder and a possible life sentence.

Hollywood has been in mourning ever since, and on December 20th, Saturday Night Live remembered the actor who once appeared on their show decades earlier.

Before their goodnight segment, the episode honored Rob with a title card featuring a photo of the late star.

The show also tweeted a photo of the title card, writing: 'Rob Reiner (grey heart emoji).'

Rob hosted the third episode of Saturday Night Live back in 1975, and appeared in a sketch entitled 'Bees' Dramatic Scene.

In February 2025, Rob and Michele showed their support for the program as they attended SNL's 50th anniversary homecoming concert.

The tribute is the latest from a community heartbroken over his death. 

Rob's son Nick was arrested in connection with last weekend's killing of the couple, officials said Monday.

The lifeless bodies of the couple had been discovered Sunday afternoon at their home in Brentwood, California, with detectives saying they believe they died as a result of lethal stab wounds.

According to The New York Times, the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, entered the home after receiving a call from a massage therapist who was unable to gain access to the property. 

After discovering her father's body, Romy allegedly 'fled' the residence and was later informed by a paramedic that her mother had also been found dead inside.

Earlier this week, Nick's siblings Romy, 27, and Jake, 34, released a heart wrenching statement.

'Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,' a statement from the grieving siblings reads.

'The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience.

'They weren't just our parents; they were our best friends. We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life.'

The pair asked people for 'respect and privacy' and urged the public to treat any speculation with 'compassion and humanity'.

Jake and Romy said they wanted their father, a legend in Hollywood, and acclaimed photographer mother, to be remembered for the 'incredible lives they lived and the love' they gave.

The statement from Romy and Jake comes after their father's close friend Billy Crystal also broke his silence to pay tribute to the late director.

The actor, who famously worked with Reiner on When Harry Met Sally, joined friends and colleagues including Larry David, Martin Short and director Barry Levinson, among others, in praising him as 'a great comic actor' and 'a master storyteller'.

'There is no other director who has his range,' the joint statement said. It paid homage to Reiner's incredible film career as well as to his 'special' 36-year marriage to 'perfect partner' Michele.
