More than 120 speakers from China, Italy, France, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the CIS countries, 22 scientific sessions, and two days of discussions – the II Congress of the Eurasian Association of Urology (EAU) has opened at Sechenov University. This year’s central theme is high technology in urology.

Bringing together colleagues from across Eurasia, the Congress serves as both a professional dialogue and a showcase of advanced medical innovations. The Congress Centre at Sechenov University has been transformed into an exhibition space where participants can experience the future of urology firsthand.

“Urology has always been a driving force for medical science – a birthplace of bold ideas and breakthrough developments,” said Evgeny Bezrukov, Vice‑Rector for Clinical and Innovative Activities at Sechenov University and Chairman of the Eurasian Association of Urologists, delivering a welcome address on behalf of Rector Petr Glybochko. “The mission of our Association is to advance by pooling efforts – disseminating best clinical practices, promoting modern medical technologies, and fostering joint research across Eurasia.”

Magomed Gazimiev, Executive Director of the Russian Society of Urologists and Professor at Sechenov University’s Institute of Urology and Human Reproductive Health, emphasised the unifying power of medicine. “Historically and mentally, we are close to our colleagues from the CIS countries, and that drives the rapid progress of urology in the post‑Soviet space,” he noted. “The time when we had to consult Western colleagues and send patients abroad for treatment is gone forever.”

The Congress also reaffirms the leadership of Sechenov University in the field. “It is no coincidence that we say the main track for Russian urology development runs through universities – and Sechenov University is the undisputed leader, offering the most advanced opportunities for international growth,” said Valentin Pavlov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Society of Urologists. He stressed that the EAU Congress has become the principal Russian‑language platform for urologists, raising the profile of Russian urology globally, thanks to the personal bonds of friendship and mutual respect among clinicians.

One of the highlights of this year’s forum is a unique interactive exhibition of robot‑assisted surgical systems. For the first time in Russia, attendees can remotely control a surgical robot located in another part of Moscow – with the console set up right in the Congress Centre, offering a live demonstration of tele‑surgery technology.
