Cordarrelle Patterson has sensationally claimed that the Pittsburgh Steelers have ruthlessly cut him from the team on his day off.

Writing on X on Monday, the 34-year-old said: 'Breaking news!!! Pittsburgh Steelers release old washed up Cordarrelle Patterson on his day off!!!'.

The Steelers have yet to confirm the news officially about the running back, who won the Super Bowl alongside Tom Brady with the New England Patritos in Atlanta in 2019.

He had speculated earlier this year that the team were going to get rid of him.

On his 34th birthday in March, the team wished him a happy birthday on their Instagram story, instead of using an official post granted for other players on the team.

He reshared the Instagram story to his own, writing: 'Damn I couldn't even get a post on the page n s*** lol. Yall know something I don't know???' 

One day prior, the Steelers Instagram page had shared a birthday post for Chris Boswell to its grid as it had for head coach Mike Tomlin earlier in the weekend rather than posting to its story.

Patterson landed in Pittsburgh during the 2024 offseason, after inking a two-year, $6million contract with the Steelers, and became their primary kick returner and third-string running back.

Patterson played 13 games for the Steelers last season, hauling in 12 passes for just 80 yards and one receiving touchdown. He also finished the season with 135 rushing yards and 240 return yards. 

The birthday complaints weren't the first that that Patterson had publicly criticized his team.

After the Steelers' loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round of the playoffs this year, Patterson called out his lack of playing time on Instagram.

'Guess I'll shovel snow since I can't touch the field n s***,' Patterson posted along with a picture of him shoveling a driveway.

The team has overseen a reshuffle during the offseason with the arrival of Aaron Rodgers as the new quarterback.
