The Youth Congress has filed a complaint to the D-Nagar police seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities in the procurement of rice under the State Free Rice scheme by the Puducherry State Co-operative Consumer Federation Limited.
State president of Youth Congress Anandbabu Natarajan in a press conference on Saturday said the government had awarded tenders to a firm for the supply of rice for the period from July 2025 to May 2026.
However, the vendor supplied rice only for five months. The firm did not adhere to the contractual obligation. No fresh tender was floated to ensure uninterrupted procurement. Instead, an empanelment process was allegedly resorted for procurement, which raises concern. A complaint was filed on Friday seeking an inquiry to ascertain whether norms were followed in the procurement process, he said.
