Justin Baldoni speaks publicly after Blake Lively settlement: His full message

Дата публикации: 09-07-2026 14:08:07

Justin Baldoni and his wife, Emily, spoke out publicly following the May settlement of his legal battle with “It Ends With Us” co-star Blake Lively. Their comments were shared jointly on their respective Instagram pages July 8.
Neither mentioned Lively or the movie by name in the video, but they discussed experiencing “injustice” and “pain” and said their family is in the process of “healing.”
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because Lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, something was telling us not to,” Justin Baldoni said.
“And this feels like the moment,” Emily Baldoni added.
Lively and Justin Baldoni’s teams announced the settlement on May 4, two weeks before a jury trial tied to their lengthy legal ordeal was set to get underway.
No details of the settlement have been revealed, but a source familiar with the matter previously confirmed to NBC News that no money changed hands. Lively has argued she’s entitled to legal fees, and on June 30, her lawyers revealed via a court filing she’s seeking $8 million from Baldoni.
In December 2024, months after “It Ends With Us” came out, Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni, alleging he created a hostile work environment on set. Lively also accused Baldoni of hiring a communications team that worked to create a “retaliatory social manipulation campaign” that would damage her reputation, court documents stated.
Baldoni has consistently denied her claims. Lively also filed a federal lawsuit against Baldoni, his production company and the firm’s chief executive and other defendants.
Baldoni filed a counter lawsuit in January 2025, accusing Lively of defamation and other contractual claims. That suit was dismissed in June 2025.
Their May settlement came after U.S. District ‌Judge Lewis Liman tossed out 10 of Lively’s 13 claims against Baldoni, including harassment, defamation and conspiracy.
Read on for a full transcript of what Justin and Emily Baldoni said in their video addressing the yearslong “It Ends With Us” legal battle.
Lively’s representatives did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
What did Justin Baldoni and Emily Baldoni say in their video?
Justin Baldoni: Hello.
Emily Baldoni: Hi. (Laughs.)
Justin Baldoni: We have not done this in a while.
Emily Baldoni: We haven’t.
Justin Baldoni: So, we have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because Lord knows we have, but it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it, and feeling into it, and praying about it, and …
Emily Baldoni: And this feels like the moment.
Justin Baldoni: So, here we are.
Emily Baldoni: That being said, there is so much to say, and it makes it hard to speak, it makes it hard to figure out what is right for …
Justin Baldoni: And we’re not going to say it all.
Emily Baldoni: For this specific moment. Yeah, of course not. But what does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people and so many things that have happened to us.
Justin Baldoni: Gratitude has saved us.
Emily Baldoni: It has, and I also feel that it’s important as we say that, in that gratitude, it doesn’t negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years. And we’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen, let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack, and the truth is, reality is, is that there’s been a lot of trauma for us to move through as a family, which also makes it hard to speak.
Justin Baldoni: And we don’t even know this is the right thing to say, but we just know we need to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence.
Emily Baldoni: Untruthful.
Justin Baldoni: Over the last couple years, and that created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.
Emily Baldoni: And the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves. And here we are. (Laughs.)
Justin Baldoni: Alright, so, how are we doing? That’s when people see us on the street. “How are you?” We are, we are healing, and if you’ve ever been through something traumatic, you know that healing isn’t linear. It looks different every day. And we have had to rethink for ourselves what is real and what matters.
Emily Baldoni: It’s this.
Justin Baldoni: It’s this.
Emily Baldoni: The kids.
Justin Baldoni: It’s our family.
Emily Baldoni: Yeah.
Justin Baldoni: It’s our friends, it’s our community being there for us. It’s our faith, I think we’re closer and more devoted and steadfast in our faith than we’ve ever been. Also, this, and this has been on both of our hearts. There were so many of you who, when we didn’t have a voice or our voice, you had a prayer at the very beginning, which was that you just prayed that people would have discernment. And so many of you had discernment, and you used your intuition, and you trusted that. And you have given your time to fight for us, and thank you does not feel like enough. But we’re here, in large part, because of so many of you and all of our friends and family. And one thing that we’ve learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that that’s when love shows up.
Emily Baldoni: And it did.
Justin Baldoni: And we feel so loved.
Emily Baldoni: And there is so much more to say, and …
Justin Baldoni: We will say it.
Emily Baldoni: That time will come, but for now we are going to focus on continuing the healing and hanging out with our kiddos and enjoying life and …
Justin Baldoni: And ending this four minute and 47-, 48-second video.
Emily Baldoni: Thank you.
Justin Baldoni: See you soon.
