I know it’s been a while. Over a month in fact. However, I didn’t feel as if there was anything worth writing about. Plus, I was busy with other things in my life.

But, there is something now to bring me back. A Thanos level threat if you will. There is a weapon out there that the rest of the NFC South can exploit. I feel like every team is fairly well built. We all have our flaws, but for the most part, the teams are pretty good (on paper).

However, outside the Buccaneers, every other team has the same flaw. Their number 2 receivers suck. The Falcons number 2 receiver is Jahan Dotson, the Saints are relying upon their rookie Jordyn Tyson to be the WR2 (or for some games probably WR1 based on Olave’s history), and the Panthers have Jalen Coker (probably the best one to be honest). Moast of these guys are either unproven, or proven to be mediocre. Now, at this point in time, you normally can’t get a good WR. However, there is a guy out there each of these teams can get. And that guy is named Brandon Aiyuk.

Aiyuk has been making waves recently for his totally adult handling of his situation of the 49ers. And very coherently has laid out his desire to leave the team. But, for whatever reason, the team hasn’t released him. No one quite knows why, but we can just assume he’s a free agent.

From every other NFC South team’s perspective, it does make sense. You have offenses that could use another weapon, especially at WR. And when you have the chance to bolster the lineup with a former first round pick, it’s a great chance. And no, using the term former first round pick is never an ominous sign. But look at the stats. In his last full season (well, 16 games so mostly full), he had 1342 yards and 7 TDs. Not exactly prime Jerry Rice, but certainly not bad.

The Elephant In The Room

Of course, there is an elephant that needs to be addressed with Aiyuk. I am of course talking about his injury. It has sidelined him for quite some time. However, I don’t think the NFC South should be worried about that. According to the most reliable source, himself, his recovery has been going very well. Why would he lie? He really has no incentive to.

While most have predicted the 49ers will cut him, it hasn’t happened yet. Once again, no one really knows why. But honestly, I think any team here would be lucky to get him. The Bucs don’t have any room on their roster due to the amount of receivers they currently have, otherwise they would totally be in on him.

But if any team in this division really wants him, they might have to trade for him. And as a former first round pick, they may have to give up their own first round pick for this highly coveted receiver. They ought to just so they could cut another team off from having a chance. Every team outside the Bucs have either a young or relatively young QB starting (unless Tua starts for Atlanta). They really need to do their best to surround their franchise signal-callers with good weapons. And Brandon Aiyuk is certainly good at making waves.
