Ford has fielded 35 warranty claims tied to the problem so far but says it’s heard of no related injuries, and says the repair involves inspection and, if necessary, replacement of the wiper motor by a dealer.

The second recall covers some 42,784 older U.S.-market rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Mustang Mach-Es from model years 2021 through 2023, though it is again unclear of the population affected in Canada. The issue has to do with a pinion shaft in the rear differential inexplicably bending, to the point the metal part could fatigue and then fracture.

If that happens, the SUV might suddenly lose power; if it’s in Park without the parking brake applied, it also risks rolling away.

Owners should look for “a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) in the instrument panel,” says the NHTSA, “as well as
possible diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P174E, P0A2F, P019C and or P27B2.” The automaker’s had 62 warranty claims regarding the defect, but again says it hasn’t fielded reports of accidents or injury. The fix will see the dealer repair or replace the Mach-E’s rear differential assembly, with a new, more robust pinion shaft replacing the original.

Finally, some 66,383 examples of the 2024- through 2027-model-year Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and 2025- through 2027-model-year Ford Explorer Hybrid are being recalled in the U.S. because a software error means their pedestrian warning sound systems may fail. An equivalent Canadian recall has not yet been issued; the repair involves an update to the software.
