Emily Blunt has reflected on the cultural impact of The Devil Wears Prada, as she throws herself into shooting the 2006 film's sequel. 

The Brit, 42, who plays highly-strung Runway employee Emily Charlton in the film, has joined the likes of Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and her brother-in-law Stanley Tucci in returning to reprise her role in the Vogue Magazine-inspired flick. 

Speaking to Net-a-Porter's digital magazine PORTER, Emily marvelled at the movie's cultural impact while also revealing what she gets up to between shoots. 

She detailed the emotional side of working with Stanley, who has been married to her sister Felicity since 2012 after they met at Emily's wedding. Emily confessed the foodie's love of pasta and martinis is 'not good for her diet'. 

In an accompanying shoot, the star looked jaw-dropping in a series of striking shots, including a cheeky look comprised of lingerie worn underneath an over-sized coat, while more pared-back images saw her in a white vest and jeans. 

Emily showcased her model-worthy looks in the striking shoot, as she posed up a storm in the sizzling ensembles for the fashion publication. 

Naturally, excitement is reaching fever pitch about the return of The Devil Wears Prada, which follows the unlikely career trajectory of Anne's character Andrea "Andy" Sachs and the Anna Wintour-worthy Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl. 

Joining the sequel is Stanley's character Nigel Kipling, with his presence being close to Emily's heart thanks to his love story with her sister.  

She said: 'It has deep emotional roots for a lot of us… but he's not good for your Devil Wears Prada diet, though, because he's cooking pasta and making me drink martinis with him every night.' 

Emily's character in the film was iconic, particularly her pre-Paris Fashion Week diet, which saw her explain to Andy that while she starves herself, whenever she feels like she will pass out she 'has a cube of cheese'.  

On the 'wild' cultural impact of the film, Emily went on: 'When we made the first movie, none of us expected the meteoric life it would have… 

'This is people's nostalgia bank. They've watched it 50, 60 times – through breakups, when their parents are sick. That's what we all feel, every day: holy s**t.' 

Emily also spoke about home life with her husband, The Office star John Krasinski and their daughters Hazel, 11, and Violet, nine: 'Bedtime is this essential anchor… the ten-minute chats where they tell you everything – you don't want to miss them.' 

As well as The Devil Wears Prada, Emily has tongues wagging for her role in The Smashing Machine opposite Dwayne Johnson later this year. 

The biopic follows the life of former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter Mark Kerr, played by Dwayne, alongside Emily as Kerr's then-wife Dawn Staples.

On the role, Emily said: 'You know you're gonna have to rip your ribcage open on something like this… and the other fear is that these people are still living, and you're holding the beating hearts of their lives on a screen...

'You just want to do right by these people who have lived through a lot.' 

After starring together in 2021's Jungle Cruise, Emily said of Dwayne's performance: 'This is a man who's never allowed to disappear, and it's so moving for me as his friend, and as an actor, to watch someone discover what they're capable of.' 

Emily also discussed the nature of fame and the desire to be known. 

She said: 'There's this almost deep desire to be known, but there's a fear of being known because of backlash. So it's a tricky balance between really wanting people to know you, but being fearful of it, too.'
