An Antiques Roadshow guest was left gobsmacked after discovering the valuation of his Lewis Hamilton F1 memorabilia collection
An Antiques Roadshow visitor was left speechless after discovering the true value of a treasured possession.
The man learnt he could be sitting on a small fortune, though he's adamant the prized collectible isn't going anywhere.
In Sunday's (July 13) instalment of the popular BBC programme, which was first broadcast in 2023, specialist Hilary Kay couldn't contain her enthusiasm when the guest unveiled sporting memorabilia linked to motorsport icon Lewis Hamilton.
The haul featured a VIP pass to an exclusive event, plus a helmet and race suit genuinely worn by Hamilton during a fan encounter back in 2008, the year Lewis clinched his first world championship crown, lending extra significance to these pieces.
Accompanying Lewis' racing gear, the visitor also displayed a lanyard and VIP credentials from that unforgettable occasion, explaining he'd been too young to attend personally.
Thankfully, his father succeeded in securing these extraordinary mementoes, which have since been passed down to him, reports the Express.
The unnamed guest was absolutely flabbergasted when Hilary Kay revealed the complete set could command as much as £10,000 at auction, were he inclined to part with it.
Unsurprisingly, he looked shell-shocked by the assessment. "Wow, that's a lot more than I expected," he finally managed to say.
Hilary responded: "The great thing is, your dad has passed his enthusiasm on to you. You are going to look after this collection and hopefully you are going to add to it."
Despite the impressive valuation, the guest revealed he wasn't planning to part with it, saying: "I would hope so. It would be nice to get the opportunity to (add to the collection).
"But I'll definitely keep a hold of this for the foreseeable future and hopefully add to it."
"Thanks so much for bringing it in, it's been great," Hilary wrapped up.
