Heated Rivalry is a massive success!The hit show received critical acclaim for the incredible acting skills, so you'd think Connor Storrie would be in line for an Emmy. However, it’s actually his comedy chops that have scored him his first nomination.Storrie was nominated for an Emmy Award on Wednesday in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category as host of Saturday Night Live.Just 15 months ago, Storrie was waiting tables, but since the breakout success of Heated Rivalry, his entire life has changed. The 26-year-old actor has skyrocketed to levels of stardom that have led to high-profile magazine photo shoots, becoming a brand ambassador for YSL and Tiffany & Co., being the talk of the Met Gala, and landing a starring role in an upcoming film opposite Melissa McCarthy.
Storrie has been in an awkward position throughout this year’s award season since he wasn’t eligible for an Emmy nomination for his role in Heated Rivalry as it was an entirely Canadian financed production.As an American, he also couldn’t be nominated for a 2026 Canadian Screen Award, despite the series taking home 16 awards including Best Drama Series, Best Lead Performance for Hudson Williams, and Best Direction and Writing for a Drama Series for Jacob Tierney.The young star’s role as bisexual hockey phenom Ilya Rozanov may not have earned him an award nod, but he got one for his high-profile gig on SNL — a role that actors often pursue for years. Storrie scored his nomination just over two months after Heated Rivalry's first season ended.Storrie used the improv skills he picked up during his training at the Groundlings — and his experience in LA’s alternative clown scene — to play a wide range of characters on the long-running skit show from a glove-slapping Victorian man to a plumber-turned-stripper who was hit by a car to a cool kin in need of a tutor.He has been nominated for an Emmy alongside Michael J. Fox, Brett Goldstein, Christopher McDonald, and Rob Reiner, who people think is a shoo-in for a posthumous award. The 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will air live on September 14, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC and will stream on Peacock.
