By the power of Grayskull… Geek Culture and He-Man fans have the power!

It’s a blast from the past, as Sony Pictures is rebooting an ’80s action hero for the modern generation with Masters of the Universe, the second live-action He-Man adaptation following the classic Dolph Lundgren-led film in 1987.

Helmed by Travis Knight of Bumblebee fame, Masters of the Universe sees Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You) take on the mantle of Prince Adam, who must embrace his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, with the help of his companions Teela (Camila Mendes) and Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and they face off against the tyrannical ruler of Eternia, Skeletor (Jared Leto).

Held in partnership with Sony Pictures Singapore, over 240 fans were able to witness the icon’s big-screen return during Geek Culture’s screening on 3 June 2026 at Golden Village Bugis+, and the excitement was palpable long before the lights dimmed, thanks to the pre-show in-hall activities, where some lucky fans walked away with Masters of the Universe movie action figures, Power Sword Kids Role Play Toys from Mattel (courtesy of Toyspedia by Emway), and Stridor, Wind Raider, and Eternian Palace Guard play sets courtesy of  The Falcon’s Hangar.

Based on the Masters of the Universe media franchise by Mattel, the film follows Prince Adam, who reunites with the Sword of Power after being separated for 15 years, leading him back to his father’s home planet of Eternia, where he discovers that it has been taken over by the powerful warlord and sorcerer Skeletor. Together with his allies, he must harness the power of Grayskull to reclaim his family legacy and save the world.

Alongside its main cast of heroes and villains, the film also features a whole bunch of faces fans of the original 1983 cartoon are sure to recognise, including The Sorceress (Morena Baccarin), Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie), Queen Marlena (Charlotte Riley), Fisto (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), Trap Jaw (Sam C. Wilson), Goat Man (Hafthor Bjornsson), Tri-Klops (Kojo Attah), Ram-Man (John Xue Zhang), and Roboto (Kristen Wiig). This isn’t merely fan service, it’s a testament to the power of nostalgia.

Masters of the Universe will launch in cinemas on 4 June 2026.
