The Issue: Mayor Mamdani giving an anti-capitalism July 4th address while flanked by naturalized citizens.

What a sadly missed opportunity (“Zo’s US Birthday bash,” July 4).

For our nation’s 250th birthday, Mayor Mamdani could have given a marvelous speech extolling the country that embraced him as a citizen less than decade ago and elected him as mayor of our greatest city. His journey embodies the pathway that is the American Dream.

Instead, flanked by naturalized citizens used as human props staring blankly at a camera, he offered a version of an American dystopia. His own career proves the inanity of his words.

At no time did the mayor ever “bash” the nation, unless you think that constructive criticism is a form of bashing. He pointed out the truth, and for Republicans, the truth hurts.

In no way is Mamdani anti-American, as evidenced in his recent media interviews when he said the happiest day of his life was when he became a US citizen. The major difference between the policies of Mamdani and those of the current president is that Mamdani is empathetic to the needs of the people he was elected to serve.

Mamdani had the courage to say what needed to be said, and I applaud him for a job well done.

Mamdani’s speech was very focused on what is wrong with America. This is a big reason why he will never be a leader of real consequence. The fact that it was rendered on the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the greatest nation on Earth just added insult to injury.

I have always been proud of being a lifetime New Yorker, up until now. He is a total embarrassment.

Jackie Biaggi

The Bronx

In his address marking the 250th anniversary of this nation’s founding, NYC’s mayor just couldn’t resist bad-mouthing this great country.

It’s clear this sinister seducer, with his ubiquitous phony smile, is an ungrateful American.

President Trump was quite foolish to break bread with Mamdani, and the Dems are paying the price for stupidly inviting that wolf into their tent.

The DSA effectively “jumped the shark” with its self-satisfied leader Mamdani’s poorly timed screed against America during its Independence Day celebrations.

His astonishing cluelessness only crystallized the absurdity of his gang of entitled clowns.

Mamdani and his smug DSA members only confirmed that their 15 minutes of fame is just about over. He should ask Sen. Chuck Schumer what that feels like.

The mayor’s Independence Day address showed all his trademarks: hatred, jealousy and class warfare. It was a sour mix of communist talking points — such as about monopolies, negligent landlords and Elon Musk. He talked of the hard-working hands creating wealth for the few with soft hands. His statements on Musk were a good example of his jealousy. Yes, Musk is a trillionaire, but this money was not handed to him.

Instead of a benediction inspiring New Yorkers to be grateful, it was a whine by a spoiled child.

Congratulations to all the new citizens. Through perseverance and bravery, you accomplished your first step in pursuing your American dream!

In the picture with the mayor, everyone looks so unhappy. As they listened to sour Mamdani, I wonder if they thought they made a big mistake.

It’s absolutely appalling this mayor had the audacity to give an anti-American speech from City Hall.

I think it’s time for New Yorkers to start a movement to have him removed from office. He has disgraced the city of New York and is incompetent.

Gene O’Brien

Whitestone

Of course Mamdani used his 4th of July speech to criticize America, and then in the next breath called for unity. If you can’t see what a fraudulent liar you’ve elected, New Yorkers, I can’t help you.
