The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has projected the credit outflow from banks in 2025-2026 in Salem district to be ₹34,090 crore in the Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP).
The NABARD officials said the comprehensive document outlined the projected credit needs across various sectors to drive sustainable economic growth and rural prosperity in the district. The total credit projection for Salem district stood at ₹34,090.31 crore, with the agriculture sector receiving the highest allocation of ₹21,873.02 crore, followed by MSMEs with an allocation of ₹10,759.34 crore. The PLP formed the basis for the finalisation of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) of the district.
Explaining the highlights of the PLP, the officials said that there will be significant focus on farm credit, water resources, mechanisation, horticulture, and animal husbandry with special emphasis on dairy and small ruminants to enhance productivity and sustainable livestock rearing. There will also be investment in storage, irrigation, health, sanitation, tourism, and renewable energy to boost rural development.
