• Honda is discontinuing the electric Prologue SUV after the 2026 model year, the automaker has confirmed.

At the start of 2026, Honda was gearing up to launch two sleek new EVs—the 0-series SUV and 0-series Saloon—that would be built in Ohio on an all-new platform. Now, several months later, the 0-series lineup has been mothballed, and soon enough, Honda will no longer sell any EVs in the United States. Today, Honda confirmed that the only EV it currently offers, the Prologue SUV, will depart after the 2026 model year, as first reported by Carbuzz.

A Honda spokesperson confirmed the news to Car and Driver. "Honda will conclude sales of Prologue later this year following completion of the 2026 model year," its statement read. "Prologue customers will continue to receive full support through our dealer network, including service, parts, and warranty coverage."

The Prologue arrived for the 2024 model year and has been a relative success in the United States' lackluster EV market. Honda sold 33,017 units in 2024, followed by 39,194 units in its first full year on sale in 2025. That number could have been even higher, given that the Prologue had already reached 36,553 units by the end of the third quarter before the removal of the federal EV tax credit decimated sales of electric cars.

The defunct tax credit continued to hurt the Prologue this year, with the SUV registering 8407 sales in the first half of 2026, down 49 percent versus 2025. All told, the Prologue has sold slightly more than 80,000 copies in the U.S. so far, although there will undoubtedly be some more units on lots that will continue to sell over the next several months.

The Prologue was closely related to the Chevrolet Blazer EV, part of a partnership with General Motors that also created the even-shorter-lived Acura ZDX. Both the Honda and Acura used GM technology and were expected to be eventually replaced by the 0-series SUV and Acura RSX, riding on a new platform that Honda developed in-house. With the 0-series plans now canceled and the Prologue riding off into the sunset, Honda will officially be without a fully electric offering starting in 2027.
