Described as “a new benchmark in bass enhancement”, Baby Audio’s latest release has been designed to augment the low-frequency content of any monophonic input signal, allowing users to craft deep and powerful bass sounds from just about any source. 

SubCulture features a trio of bass-enhancement engines: Sub Layer, Root Boost and Resonance. The plug-in automatically detects the pitch of incoming audio and locks the engines to each note, providing musical low end extension that remains in tune with the source signal at all times. Unlike psychoacoustic or synthesis-based approaches, SubCulture’s enhanced material is always derived directly from the input signal, ensuring it blends musically with the original to reinforce the low end.

The first of the engines, Sub Layer, adds a pitch-shifted sub-octave version of the input signal at up to two octaves below the original, while Root Boost delivers a pitch-tracking EQ band that provides up to 18dB of boost or cut at the fundamental frequency of each incoming note. Resonance then offers a parallel filter network inspired by classic analogue designs, and some further tonal shaping is provided by Saturation and Compressor sections. 

While SubCulture has been designed with bass in mind, Baby Audio say it can be used to add layers to any monophonic source, and is capable of delivering some interesting results on the likes of vocals, lead lines and other melodic material.

SubCulture is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. 

SubCulture is available now, and is currently (15 July 2026) being offered at an introductory price of $79, reduced from its full cost of $129.
