The ballot has been released for the College Football Hall of Fame for 2027, and as it turns out, there are two legendary figures from both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers.

For Auburn, the group is headlined by former quarterback Cam Newton, who despite playing for just one year for the Tigers had arguably the greatest season in the history of the sport, which included both the Heisman Trophy and a national championship for Auburn.

Joining him out of Tuscaloosa is former Alabama offensive lineman Barrett Jones, who was a key part of three national titles during the height of the Nick Saban dynasty from 2008-2012 playing all three of guard, tackle and center for the Tide. He is one of the most decorated offensive linemen in the history of the sport.

Also out of Auburn is Phenix City native and former Tigers guard Ed King, a former first round pick in the NFL in 1991 after a distinguished career on The Plains. It’s the second appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot for King. Opposite of him is Alabama legendary linebacker and current Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, who is making his first appearance on the ballot and had a phenomenal run of his own in Tuscaloosa.

Coaches from the SEC on the ballot include not only Tommy Tuberville, but also Dennis Franchione, Mike Leach and Jackie Sherrill.

The Class of 2027 will be announced after the upcoming season with the 2026 class set to be inducted here coming up in December.
