Connor McGinnis hit a two-run single in the first inning, then homered in the third inning as the Somerset Patriots cruised to a 7-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Somerset broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning that made it 7-0.

Five pitchers combined on a four-hitter for the Patriots. Starter Jack Cebert struck out nine and gave up only one hit in 4 2/3 innings.

Three of Portland’s hits came in the sixth inning. Brooks Brannon belted his 15th home run of the season, then Ronald Rosario doubled to left, took third on a single by Miguel Bleis and scored on a balk.
