Tottenham fans have expressed their frustration after being unable to watch £85million signing Mateus Fernandes' superb goal in pre-season amid technical problems with the club's in-house TV channel.

Fans wanting to watch Tottenham's first pre-season match against MK Dons needed to tune in to their channel SPURSPLAY, which is carrying all of the club's pre-season matches.

The subscription is a benefit this season for the club's One Hotspur+ Members, while fans alternatively can pay £45 for an annual subscription or £35 if they are a One Hotspur member.

Fans had been looking to catch a first glimpse of their new midfield partnership of Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, who joined for £100m from Newcastle.

Fernandes opened the scoring just three minutes into the match, superbly volleying into the top corner from outside the box after MK Dons' goalkeeper had punched clear.

Tottenham's official X account shared the goal while highlighting that fans could watch on SPURSPLAY, prompting replies from fans already struggling with the service.

'We can’t,' one fan responded while sharing a screenshot of the website that stated 'We are sorry, an error occurred. Please retry in a few minutes.'

'It seems this application has become very popular, and its available rate limit has been reached. Please retry in a few minutes,' an error message read.

One fan responded: 'This stream is running like pure garbage. If this doesn’t improve I will be demanding a refund.'

'I’d love to, but you won’t let me even though I paid my hard earned money. Well done,' a second added.

Another posted: 'Managing to get 10-15 secs then freezes. Every time. Were Spurs really not expecting massive interest considering they include Spursplay in the plus membership??,'

'How is it every season you fail to account for how many people might want to login and watch the friendlies. Seriously EVERY YEAR,' one fan said.

'Why is Spursplay stream not working? Only get still frames, anyone else had the same issue?' another added.

The friendly at Tottenham's Hotspur Way training centre is the club's first of their pre-season schedule.

Roberto De Zerbi's side will then travel to New Zealand to face Auckland FC on July 26, before taking on Sydney FC and Chelsea in matches on July 29 and August 1 in Sydney.

Tottenham then face Getafe and have two matches against Hoffenheim before beginning their Premier League season with a trip to Brentford on August 22.
