Newsboy fancies a David and Nicola Barron-trained three-year-old to score a first success at Ayr (5.00) and he also rates a Mike Smith sprinter in the 2.30 on the same card
BRASH is fancied to give his rivals weight and a beating in the Watch Racing TV Free For 31 Days Handicap (5.00) at Ayr today.
Trained in tandem by David and Nicola Barron, the son of Bungle Inthejungle didn’t make the racecourse as a two-year-old, and there wasn’t much to write home about in his debut seventh at Doncaster in May.
Brash ran to a similar level of form with another seventh, at Thirsk the following month, but there was more to like about his third to Thistle Nil over six furlongs at Ayr two weeks later.
Given a handicap mark of 65, my selection put up another personal best on his debut in the sphere with a second, beaten a length and three-quarters, behind Lamlash Bay at Ripon last time out.
William Pyle’s mount shows enough speed to suggest the step back to five furlongs and, from an unchanged rating and with more to offer on the fifth outing of his life, Brash is the Nap choice to go one better for a first career success.
Earlier on the Ayr card, WHISKEY KISSES , a good third to Azuinthejungle for Mike Smith over course and distance last Monday, makes plenty of appeal in the Dream Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap (2.30).
