Expressive E’s versatile soft synth has just been treated to an update that greatly expands its sonic range. Noisy 2.6 introduces a selection of new synthesis engines and resonators, and now spans sampled acoustic instruments, modelled analogue, FM, harmonic and wavetable techniques. 

The update, which is free to existing users, introduces five new engines and resonator types: Unison, FM, FM Feedback, Harmonics and Wave Map, extending its capabilities and covering everything from lead and pad sounds to cinematic textures, experimental sounds and modern electronic timbres. There's also nine additional built-in effects, five new noise sources and an extra LFO shape. An impressive 1400 presets are included, comprising 650 MPE presets and 750 standard MIDI patches. 

Given Expressive E’s expertise in MPE controllers and instruments, it’s no surprise that Noisy 2 comes packed with expressive performance capabilities. Each preset has been programmed with dedicated expressive parameters that allow users to transform the sound of the instrument in real time — those with MPE-capable controllers can take advantage of per-note control and performance gestures, while standard users can access the settings via velocity, aftertouch, modulation and automation.

Noisy 2.6 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST2, VST3 and AU plug-in versions are available. There is no AAX version, meaning Pro Tools is not supported.
