The 15th Hosur Book Fair was inaugurated at Hosur Convention Centre in Hotel Hills on Friday (July 24), much to the delight of the bibliophiles of the industrial town.

The book fair, being jointly organised by the Tamil Nadu Science Forum and the district administration, will be open for 10 days till August 4. District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar inaugurated the event and interacted with visitors on the essence of reading and how a society is judged by its capacity to read.

The line up daily events promises a rich readership experience for a city that has always showed up for its annual book fairs every year. Over a lakh and more titles in a variety of genres, and more than 100 stalls have been set up here to cater to readers with varied interests.

On July 25, documentary filmaker Bharathi Krishnakumar will speak on Ariviyalum Ariviyalum; on July 27, poet Ramalingam will speak on Katrukonde Iru; on August 1, writer Oviya will speak on Aadhi Pennin Adi Thedi; on August 2, Prof. R. Kaleeswaran, former professor of Loyola College and director of Alternative Media Centre, will speak on Makkal Kalayae Magathana Azhagu.

On August 1, the book fair will host Magalir Sangamam, a confluence fo women and will celebrate women achievers from across fields.

The book fair will be open from 10 a.m to 9 p.m on all days, with special events and speakers set to regale the audiences on a array of topics and themes.
