Shape creative industries of the future

The Creative Industries lectureships are established to support the delivery of industry facing undergraduate and postgraduate programs that prepare graduates for contemporary creative economies. The Creative Industries major and Master are designed to develop capabilities in creative production, project design, audience engagement, and entrepreneurial practice. These programs respond to sector demand for graduates who can combine creative expertise with technological competence and an understanding of how creative work is developed within industry contexts.

The role

The Teaching Focused Lecturer in Creative Industries provides specialist teaching capacity dedicated to the delivery of the Creative Industries major and Master. The role centres on the design, coordination, and delivery of units across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The lecturer is responsible for coordinating units in ways that connect introductory, intermediate, and advanced study, so that students encounter a clear progression in skills and knowledge. This includes the development and delivery of studio based teaching and capstone units that require students to produce extended creative work under supervision, using processes and formats that reflect current industry practice.

About you (Selection Criteria)

  • PhD in relevant area.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Creative Industries practice, with evidence of professional or applied experience in areas such as creative production, digital media, design, or cultural industries.
  • Proven capacity for high quality teaching in Creative Industries or cognate fields, with a clear record of effective student learning, engagement, and retention.
  • Experience in unit coordination across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with the ability to design, deliver, and manage coherent curricula.
  • Strong understanding of industry relevant tools, platforms, and software, with the ability to embed these within teaching and assessment.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain industry partnerships that support teaching, student projects, internships, or placements.
  • Experience in designing assessment tasks that reflect real world creative and industry contexts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student experience, including mentoring, supervision, and support for diverse student cohorts.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, including experience in course coordination, compliance, and reporting.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a teaching focused team, contributing to a shared program vision and continuous improvement of curriculum.
