MOSCOW, August 12. /TASS/. The decline in investment in Russia in early 2026 can hardly be described as dramatic, with the overall level of investment activity remaining high, said Adviser to Central Bank Governor Kirill Tremasov.

"The investment boom seen in the Russian economy in recent years has brought us to historic highs in investment activity. Are these levels optimal for the Russian economy? That is a debatable question requiring further study. The decline in investment seen early this year can hardly be described as dramatic," he said in a video published by the regulator.

The overall level of investment activity remains high, Tremasov noted. "The most important point I wanted to make and emphasize today is that economic growth driven solely by investment tends to lose momentum over time. If we want to achieve a trajectory of stronger, more sustainable economic growth, we must look for the untapped potential to do so in increasing total factor productivity," he said.

"And this is not so much about labor productivity as it is about an overall increase in economic efficiency, including through the optimization of resource allocation and the improvement of institutions for integration into the global economy," Adviser to Central Bank Governor added.
