Google buried the good stuff

Google AI Pro is one of the best-value AI subscriptions you can get right now. Unlike other AI labs, Google doesn't just give you access to a better chatbot and call it a day. And if you're a student, there's a decent chance you didn't even have to pay for it. Google spent much of the last back-to-school season handing out year-long AI Pro subscriptions to college students across dozens of countries.
I was one of them. I signed up for the free student offer mostly for Gemini and NotebookLM, but it turns out that's only a fraction of what comes with the subscription. Google AI Pro is packed with benefits spread across Google's ecosystem, and some of the best ones are surprisingly easy to miss.
YouTube Premium Lite Your AI plan apparently hates ads too
Google only added YouTube Premium Lite to paid AI Pro subscriptions at Google I/O in May 2026, throwing in what it says is another $8.99 of monthly value at no extra cost.
Premium Lite isn't the same as a full YouTube Premium subscription, but it covers most of the features the average user cares about. Most regular YouTube and YouTube Kids videos play without ads, and you can download videos for offline viewing or keep them playing in the background when you switch apps. Of course, there are still a few limitations. Ads can appear on Shorts, music content, search results, and while browsing. Unlike YouTube Premium, which includes YouTube Music Premium, Premium Lite doesn't give you ad-free music listening or downloads in the YouTube Music app.
Better yet, there's nothing you actually need to activate. If you have an eligible paid Google AI Pro subscription, Google says Premium Lite should switch on automatically for the same account. There is one pretty major catch for students, though. If you're using Google AI Pro through a free student offer or another trial, Premium Lite won't kick in until that free period ends and your plan converts to a paid subscription. Unfortunately, this is why I don't have access to this perk either.
It also only applies to the plan manager, so unlike many other AI Pro benefits, you can't share it with the rest of your Google family group.
Family Sharing Five people, one very generous plan
One of the easiest Google AI Pro benefits to overlook is family sharing. Your subscription can be shared with up to five other people through a Google family group, which means they can tap into your shared storage and select AI Pro features without paying for their own subscription. Google also lets family members share AI credits, although only the plan manager can buy more credits or change the membership itself.
The storage side is what I appreciate most! Google AI Pro is available with 5 TB or 10 TB of storage, depending on the plan, and that storage is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. You can share that pool with up to five other people through a Google family group, while everyone's files, photos, and emails remain private.
The 5 TB allowance is also a fairly recent upgrade. Google AI Pro originally came with 2 TB, but Google bumped that to 5 TB at no additional cost in April 2026. For me, that's what makes family sharing such an easy perk to recommend. Five terabytes is already more storage than I'd realistically use alone (especially since I already pay for iCloud(, so letting other people dip into the same pool makes the subscription feel a lot less wasteful.
Google Health Premium Your smartwatch gets a perk too

If you own a Pixel Watch or Fitbit, Google AI Pro also includes Google Health Premium at no extra cost. This is another relatively new perk: Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium in May 2026, alongside Google's redesigned Health app and its new Gemini-powered coaching features.
The top feature is Google Health Coach, which uses data from your wearable to give you more personalized fitness, sleep, and wellness guidance. It can build weekly fitness plans and tailored workouts, send you a morning summary based on your sleep and readiness, break down your performance after workouts, and even give you an evening recap of how your body responded throughout the day. You can also chat with it about trends in your health and fitness data!
Google Health Premium typically begins at $9.99 per month in the US, but it's included with Google AI Pro and AI Ultra at no additional cost. For anyone using the free student offer, you're not excluded either. The only real catch is availability. You'll need a compatible Pixel Watch or Fitbit, and Google Health Premium is only supported in select countries for now.
Google AI Pro gives you access to more than Gemini Gemini is only the beginningIt's easy to think of Google AI Pro as a subscription for Gemini, but that's only one of the AI products you're paying for. The plan also expands your access to Gemini Notebook, Google's research workspace, alongside Flow for AI film-making and Flow Music for generating songs. The latter even comes with its own separate allowance of 10,000 monthly credits.
If you're more interested in building things, the subscription goes even further. AI Pro includes expanded access to Google AI Studio, higher limits in Google's Antigravity agentic development environment, and higher task and concurrency limits for Jules, its coding agent. It also includes Google Developer Program Premium, which comes with higher Gemini Code Assist quotas, 30 Firebase Studio workspaces, and $10 in Google Cloud credits every month.
The benefits aren't limited to Google's standalone AI tools either. AI Pro gives you Gemini directly inside apps like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Vids, so you can use it without constantly jumping back to the Gemini app. Google Search gets an upgrade too, with expanded access to Gemini 3 Pro in AI Mode and features including Deep Search.
Even Google Photos gets something out of the subscription. AI Pro gives you higher limits for its generative AI tools, including Photo to Video, which turns a still image into a short animated clip, and Remix, which can transform your photos into styles like sketches, comics, or animations.
Google Home Premium Even your smart home gets upgradedFinally, Google AI Pro also includes the Standard tier of Google Home Premium. This is a pretty substantial perk if you already have compatible Nest cameras, doorbells, or other Google Home devices.
The biggest upgrade is extended video history. Google Home Premium Standard gives you 30 days of event video history, so you can go back and review clips your cameras captured throughout the month instead of being limited to a much shorter window. It also adds smarter alerts and detection features, including things like person, package, animal, and familiar-face detection on supported devices, along with additional camera automations.
There are Gemini-powered features in the mix too, which can make it easier to understand what happened around your home without scrubbing through every clip manually. Exactly what you get depends on the device you're using and where you live, though, since some Home Premium features are still region-limited.
There's a lot hiding inside Google AI ProI'm not going to shy away from admitting that I didn't realize a few of these benefits were included with Google AI Pro until I started digging through everything my subscription actually came with. I'd been using Gemini and a handful of the more obvious perks while completely overlooking others that were sitting there the entire time!
