A Kansas grandmother was found dead inside a suitcase that was brought to a fire station last week.

The body of Lorretta Moody, 67, was dropped off in front of Wichita fire station 22 by two unidentified people in the evening of September 16.

Moody's granddaughter, Alexis Trotter, spoke out publicly for the first time and told KLTV she is still processing the death: 'This is just evil. There's no other word for it.' 

Trotter added that it is important to her that her grandmother will be remembered for more than the cruel circumstances behind her death.

'She wouldn't want to be known as the person who showed up in a suitcase at a fire station,' she said.

'She would be wanting to be known as the loving woman she was, a loving grandmother and a loving great-grandmother.

'Family was everything to her. She was spunky, I'd say, for a little person. She was full of life.'

The Wichita Police Department is investigating Moody's death as a homicide and has interviewed the people who brought the suitcase to the fire station.

No arrests have been made nearly a week after the body appeared.

Moody's body was transported to the Sedgwick County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Trotter said that no matter what happened, she hopes those responsible for her grandmother's death will be found and held accountable.

'We want to get the people who did it, and whoever did it, I hope they come forward and realize this isn't something that should just be normal, everyday life,' she said.

'She's a human, and she was somebody's family member. She was somebody's blood.'

Moody's family set up a GoFundMe page to 'cover funeral costs, burial/cremation expenses, and helping the family with necessary expenses during this difficult time.

'The unexpected loss has left our family facing not only the emotional pain of saying goodbye, but also the financial burden of funeral and memorial expenses,' the fundraiser states.

Moody had been reported missing around 1.30am on September 16, after her family became concerned about her whereabouts, the Wichita Eagle reported.

Moody's family also said that she could barely walk and needed oxygen at all times, according to a Facebook post published by the family.

When she vanished, she reportedly did not have her walker, supplemental oxygen and daily medications with her, the Wichita Eagle reported.

The Daily Mail contacted Moddy's family and the Wichita Police Department for comment.
